As a member of the Detector Characterization group at LIGO, I am responsible for working with large data sets from the interferometer to gather statistics, produce plots, and analyze results. Specifically, I work with data from the optical laser system to investigate how light scattering in the detector creates noise that interferes with gravitational wave detection. My research focuses on how earthquake events are related to the scattered light in the interferometer end station.
