Replatforming Oracle components of Barclays Mobile Banking, PingIT for cost saving and resource uplift for Performance gain. As a Oracle Specialist at Barclays, I successfully delivered a 4 node RAC cluster Database with DR capability to the Barclays Mobile Banking and PingIT Application. The role involved working very close with Application Team Delivery Manager, Application Architect, Middleware team and the Program Manager to propose and agree to a Database Solution to deliver the latest oracle Database Infrastructure to the Barclays Mobile banking and PingIt Application and Barclays Online Banking. I migrated the standalone databases with dataguard (Fast start Fail over) earlier running on AIX on to a brand new 4 Node RAC cluster in Linux environment on DL380 Hardware with a four node DR RAC cluster. The purpose of this project was to cut the licences and hardware cost involved in AIX boxes and gain performance by adding new high power DL380 boxes with manifold increase in CPU and Memory. The Live Database system was uplifted went from 8 core CPUs (16 Logical CPUs) & 32 GB memory to 96 CPUs and 528 GB Memory across the 4-Node RAC cluster. Installed and documented the Installation process of 11gR2 RAC software and Database software on a 4 Node cluster. This included documenting the configuration of ASM,ACFS, writing the pre-requisite document for Linux, Storage and Network team, writing the Support document for the PROD RAC system etc. In order to give confidence to Service management and the senior Board level management team, I proposed and created documentation on “RAC cluster resilience and Failover test” for 11gR2 as part of assurance checks for this high profile system (BMB and PingIT) at Barclays.
