Life begins when you leave your comfort zone…This one phrase pretty much sums up the professional and personal sides of me. From a professional standpoint, I’ve been a biomedical engineer focused on new product development in the medical device industry, served in the financial services industry with an emphasis on product management, business development and client relations in the payments space, worked in government overseeing the operations of two divisions that invested tax payer dollars in a variety of programs, and worked to launch a new and unique entertainment and hospitality destination for Lake Michigan. As you can see, while most people prefer to climb the corporate ladder, I have opted for the "career pivot."Continuing to challenge myself through new adventures is what motivates me day to day. I've been able to take on these new challenges when transitioning between industries through the skills I have developed over the years. These general management skills have included business development, partnership marketing, relationship management, media relations, public speaking, and product management experience with profit/loss and budget management responsibility. Additional skills include project management, people management, and leadership experience in cross-functional, customer-focused product development, including market assessment and translation of consumer insights to grow distribution and product line revenues, as well as contract negotiations with C-level executives, which all align well Chief Operating Officer (COO), Chief of Staff, and General Manager (GM) type roles.I give back to the community by volunteering 8 to 10 hours per month at a neighborhood food pantry as well as serving on the Board of Directors for 4 non profits, two social-service based, one museum foundation, and one in higher education. My personal adventures include traveling the world to experience different cultures and food (40 countries) attending sporting events, bike riding, golf, television and movies.
