Sales Representative, then later Product Manager and finally Marketing Manager for a group of chemicals including fine chemicals and pharmaceutical chemical intermediates; set up a distribution system in Europe, the Middle-East and Africa comprised of 12 sales agents in the major market areas; participated in the evaluation of a French acquisition candidate company in the pharmaceutical intermediates business, later successfully absorbed by Stauffer. Direct reports comprised two sales engineers and two administrative assistants in Geneva, and had operational responsibility for Stauffer's sales personnel based in the various regional offices; travelled an average of 100 days per year (mainly in Western Europe, but also in the United States, the (then) USSR, Eastern Europe and the Middle East).

Research Engineer, then later Senior Research Engineer in the "Industrial Fibres" division: Developed laboratory- and pilot-scale processes for the production and processing of polyester and polypropylene fibres; worked in close coordination with Du Pont production units in Germany and Luxembourg; travelled frequently to visit clients across Europe to provide technical assistance during new roll-outs with Du Pont products; involved in technical assistance during the preparatory phases of a Du Pont joint venture for a petrochemical complex and for the production of polyester and acrylic plastics and fibers in Iran, requiring frequent travel to that country.
