CurrentThe project I am working on is called Leathertrace Bangladesh: Traceable and Circular Leather Production (TCLP), which is funded by FCDO & UNCTAD," Which is being implemented by iDEA TREE, collaboration with the University of Northampton (UoN), University of Hertfordshire (UoH), Sustainable Leather Foundation (SLF), SERA Bangladesh. The project involves the development of an electronic traceability system (e-traceability) using mobile and web-based apps with QR codes to track hides, ensuring adherence to environmental and social standards. It will be piloted in a tannery cluster in Bangladesh. An Environmental Impact Analysis (EIA) will use RECP to optimize resource use and minimize pollutants, focusing on water, waste, air quality, and chemical reduction. A circular economy model will pilot innovative waste management approaches. Finally, the project aims to create a sustainable financing model for low-impact, traceable leather production.
