As Commercial Finance Manager for International Business at Lion Brewery Ceylon PLC, I was responsible for driving financial strategy and operational efficiency across the International Business segment. My key responsibilities as a finance business partner included finalizing pricing strategies, analyzing brand performance, leading customer negotiations, identifying cost-saving opportunities, preparing and monitoring budgets, monthly reforecasts, and variance analyses. I also supported the Luxury Brands business (spirits import) by managing pricing strategies, navigating tax and freight changes, and evaluating the commercial viability of new ventures, while ensuring smooth cash flow and credit management. Additionally, regular P&L analyses and detailed reporting enabled senior management to make informed decisions.I played a significant role in special projects that enhanced business performance and operational capabilities. These included establishing an offshore trading arm in Singapore, leading efforts in transfer pricing, tax analysis, and customer negotiations. I was part of the core team that launched the first contract manufacturing plant in Canada and spearheaded cost optimization projects, delivering over LKR 300M in annual savings for the company. Furthermore, I led automation initiatives such as the order-to-cash process automation for exports and the procurement revamp for Luxury Brands. I also collaborated with the Draught Beer team to implement ROI modules and streamline client management.

Within the scope of this role, I was responsible for all the finance related analysis for the tea business. I associate with supply chain business partnering by preparing analysis to identify the savings and efficient ways of work in order to improve the profitability and quality of supply chain function. Also support sales & marketing function by analyze the brand performance and identify the required price increases, trade discounts and cost reductions to improve the business performance. Furthermore, I also prepare business cases for innovations and product development to analyze the profitability and business impact.In addition I am well experienced in handling External and internal audit requirements, regional reporting including routine reports and ad-hoc requests. Furthermore, perform General Ledger Analysis and gather reasons for deviations from budgets.Moreover, I played an important role in the business separation of tea division by being responsible for the all the analytics which impacts the crucial business decisions.

Malaysia

While I was working at the Fonterra Brands Sri Lanka, I got an opportunity to join with the Global shared service in Malaysia. Within this scope, I was primarily accountable to overlook AP team members for monitoring AP subledger, service requests & invoice processing issues and provided guidance & solutions for complex & aged issues whilst handling payment and resolutions for 18 entities (Europe, Middle East and Asia). During my tenure I have handled 30+ entities across 20+ countries. Moreover, I played a pivotal role in to managing 3 SAP Migration Projects for major business operations of Sri Lanka, Thailand & Singapore, working closely with the Technical Team to provide the process concerns & address technical issues, educating business operations and conducting training sessions for other team members. Furthermore, I also implement Service Management Software, identify challenges, prepare process map, and steer training sessions for other team members after the implementation.

After gaining extensive hands on industry exposure for 2 years at National Development Bank-Sri Lanka, I shifted to Fonterra Brands Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd. Worked as a sales data analyst and I was accountable for reporting all sales data analysis, dashboards to the senior management on company's sales performances. Also contributed on sales target setup and budget allocations; delivering customized analysis on an adhoc basis according to the requirement and responsible for the month-end system updates which impacts the entire business closing. I also prepared monthly incentives payment calculation of over 150 sales staff including promotional incentive calculations.

I started my career as a banking associate and I have been assigned to the Card Centre Department. I was a part of Reconciliation Team in Card Centre Department to prepare & post GL entries related to Credit Cards, Debit Cards and Prepaid on a daily basis and perform reconciliations of all payable & receivable accounts. I also maintained monthly/quarterly analysis of direct cost in the department, reviewed expenses incurred and advised business on any revenue channels. I even created monthly financial statements and compiled periodic reports for the review of Board of Directors, Senior Management of the Bank & Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
