He was #1 winner in a national math competition in China before he went to Princeton to receive his Ph.D. in Mathematics. Due to his inquisitive mind and out-of-the-box thinking, he has a sharp business acumen connected with data acumen. He also designs customized data-driven and scenario-driven algorithms, going beyond standard off-the-shelf machine learning algorithms. Chris has extensive experiences designing and building total Data Warehouse/BI and Data Analytics solutions from scratch. He has worked on projects at UPS, AT&T, Citibank, Deloitte & Touche, Credit Suisse, IPSOS, Thomson Reuters, and Bain Capital. Chris invented and now owns PaiDEP, a proprietary EDA product designed for KYD - Know Your Data (like KYC in banking and financial world). It can automatically and systematically explore and profile any data in any business domain. PaiDEP for data exploring is like Tableau for data visualization.As CDO, Chris developed his own protocol to evaluate and qualify candidates for Data Engineering, BI and Data Science roles by minimizing false positive and false negative errors. The screening and hiring process of many large companies is full of both errors. How capable is a candidate in researching into his unknown domain to quickly understand a new skill and be able to apply it to solve a given problem? This capability is far more important than the candidate's current skillset & knowledge. Using an analogy, this is his capability to earn new money, whereas his current skillset & knowledge is the money he has earned. While certification training was prevalent, he pioneered HOPT (Hands-On Project Training) methodology and founded ITtrain School.
