I have been working as a professional translator since my second year at Bilkent University's Translation and Interpreting Faculty, from which I graduated in 2002.Between 2002 and 2006, I worked as copywriter in an advertising agency, served as foreign news editor in a national newspaper, published an alternative health magazine, and established a private publishing and music production company. During this period, I also authored and published a political book on the early symptoms of the controversial 'Ottoman revival' in the Middle East.In 2007, I decided to leave the media sector and returned to translation business. I started as a Project Manager at one of the biggest localization companies in Turkey and after gaining some very valuable experience with clients, projects and translation tools, I decided to continue as a full-time freelance translator. Since November 2008, I have been providing highly valued translation, proofreading, editing, MTPE and transcreation/cultural localisation services to several reputable companies around the world.I have been using computers since childhood (starting with a Commodore 64 in 1988 and continued with Apple OS7 in the early 90s), and I translated hundreds of thousands of words for several leading hardware and software manufacturers in the last 15 years. The linguistic services I provide in the IT field range from games to websites, including creative texts and user interfaces.Not only as a linguist but also as a publishing enthusiast, I still have a keen interest in advertising, marketing, journalism, and law. I frequently translate press releases, codes of conduct, business agreements, HR documents (including recruitment and induction documents, employee surveys, etc.), advertorials and brochures, field studies, e-newsletters, terms and conditions, etc.On top of that, since January 2022, I have been translating daily financial analysis and market reports as part of a long term project. This project is particularly important to me as it has not only helped me gain a deeper insight and wider vocabulary in the field of finance, but has also challenged my transcreation skills to find a perfectly fluent and natural tone that is much appreciated by Turkish readers.As an empathetic professional who sees things from both a project manager's and translator's points of view, my basic principle is to provide the best service at the best price.
