Includer. Learner. Positive. Inquisitive. Responsible. My journey that led me to become a teacher really started in high school. I began with teaching my neighbor's daughter, who was visually impaired. In all honesty that little girl taught me more than I did through her insights on life, her resilience and her love of learning. What led me to teach math was working at Upward Bound- CSULB. I tutored students mainly in math and developed a love for teaching the subject matter. I especially loved the challenge of meeting a student that "hated math" or considered themselves "not good at math". I absolutely loved helping that student change their mindset and not just succeed but enjoy math. My soft spot in teaching is students with special needs. A great teacher is usually also a great giver and with students with special needs it takes a giant heart and lots of patience. It also takes someone passionate about researching and implementing new and creative methods of teaching. I am blessed to say that the culmination of my past experiences has molded me into a passionate and dedicated teacher who is always open to learning more and flexible enough to try new methods for the best interest of my students.
