Abdulgader S. Naseer is an urban strategist, architect, and independent researcher focusing on challenging the normalization of stereotypes surrounding Islamic Architecture. Abdulgader is a licensed architect in the United States and Saudi Arabia; he is also the first Saudi citizen to become a Chartered Member of both the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).Abdulgader began his career in New York City working on a number of projects that have been honored with awards from the American Institute of Architects and the NYC Public Design Commission; his wide range of experiences includes working on numerous masterplans, large scale commercial projects, mid-size institutional, and innovative high-rise multi-family residential, all the while serving as a guest lecturer and visiting critic at multiple universities across the United States. Abdulgader returned to Saudi Arabia in October 2020 to lead the efforts in developing a new masterplan and city development strategy for the city of Makkah at The Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites.
