I'm a Chemical Engineer with a strong background in evolutionary optimization and deep learning. In my career I've worked as a researcher applying this background to a manifold of disciplines ranging from the reliability engineering domain, anticipating failures to optimize the management of industrial assets, to the applied chemistry one.In this latter domain I've worked for several years in modelling physicochemical properties (relevant for the design of industrial processes) filling the theoretical gaps of physical models with the help of neural networks using the QSAR/QSPR approach. In the meantime, I revisited the parameter fitting problem of physical models to extend the range of validity of the implicit parameters to maximize the utility of the existing experimental data.Most recently, I joined Arquimea Research Center where I lead the AI Drug Discovery program, aiming to provide new approaches for the early stages of the search process such as the hit discovery, hit-to-lead optimization and lead optimization relying on generative AI for de novo drug design and inferring molecular properties from the chemical structure using deep neural networks.
