Ana Sofia Solis Canales describes herself as a developer, activist, researcher, and militant anthropologist. In her last position, she was a research and technical assistant at the Losonczy Lab at the Columbia Zuckerman Institute. In particular, Ana manipulated, cleaned, visualized, and analyzed large datasets collected from experiments; also maintains the in-house server. During this time, she gained two co-authorship in Neuroscience publications. Throughout her career and life, Ana has aimed to work with projects that go beyond profit. She attempts to live in the intersection of the human, technology, and the other than human. Ana believes that it is at this intersection where the future lies and that it fosters technology, liberation, and change. She dreams of utopias, such as those that Ursula K. Le Guin imagined. In 2019 Ana worked as a project manager and web developer inter with Genus Dev in their cryptocurrency urban development project. With Genus Dev, she collaborated in crafting and revising their white paper, pitch deck, and financial analysis. As an undergraduate, she worked as a software developer with Eazel, Inc., where she collaborated in the creation of virtual museum exhibitions, and crafted specifications for the application's API. Since high school in Nicaragua, Ana has always volunteered her time outside of work or school in projects seeking social justice and change. When not in one of the activities mentioned above, you can find her reading, drinking coffee, or attempting to have an intricate philosophical conversation.
