My role as a Global Perspectives teacher challenged me to use a range of active learning approaches rather than those who lecture information and expect students to regurgitate.My responsibility was to support and guide the learners as they research, evaluate and work together. I gave them feedback on where they were doing well and what they needed to do next to further develop the skill. I facilitated learning, thus I restrained myself from telling my students how to do it. However, by no mean did this meant less work for the teacher. The planning part of the programme would take some time at first. The subject allowed flexibility for the teacher to design and execute the lesson as they wish within the parameter of the topic. In Global Perspectives, teachers like myself guide and support learners to develop transferable skills more so than their ability to recall information. -
