Cyber Fraud Centre Scotland works with students such as myself, training them in ethical hacking while also giving them corporate experience, presenting workshops and events to charities, non-profits and businesses across the UK.I utilise ethical hacking to identify and mitigate potential vulnerabilities, in a bid to prevent exploitation by malicious hackers or other threat actors.One notable project during my time here at CFCS, was creating content for a phishing campaign. The emails were designed to test employees on whether they identify common recognisable email elements, as well as common practices seen in phishing emails, ultimately determining how aware they are of common threats and techniques.

As a Cyber Security Operations Associate (Intern) at Lloyds Banking Group, I worked alongside several teams that ensure both the safety of the bank, and its colleagues on a global scale. In the CSOC, alongside 3 other interns, I primarily handled malicious email checks and the filtering of emails entering the estate, thus contributing towards safer email communications. These activities allowed myself and other SOC colleagues to check the hygiene of emails and protect colleagues from malicious actors. Another part of my duties at Lloyds was a variety of compliance based tickets, to ensure colleagues were conducting work correctly, and verifying the legitimacy of their activities, ultimately playing a key role in the bank's security, helping to spot, analyse, and address cyber threats swiftly and effectively.
