Linear Energy Infrastructure Projects:Assisted with environmental auditing during active construction within streams and wetlands. Tasks included monitoring biological conditions of multiple sites per day, reporting and photo documenting each phase of construction, and coordinating with project personnel and WSSI Lead Auditors. Auditors worked collaboratively with Environmental Inspectors to ensure proper environmental compliance practices were met. Participated in Oil Discharge Contingency Plan (ODCP) inspections at each project fuel yard and assisted with stream water quality monitoring. Collected GIS wetland and stream boundary flag locations, completed DEQ and USM stream forms, and collected field datapoints using EcoBot. VDOT Projects:Inspected guardrail terminals along all secondary roads in multiple Virginia counties. Inspection tasks included locating, inventorying, assessing the hardware of the terminals, rating the condition of the guardrails, and taking photo documentation, all while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols due to the hazardous work environment along the busy roadside. WSSI is serving as a subconsultant for the work, which is being completed under VDOT’s Statewide Maintenance Consultant Services contract.Other Project WorkMinnkota Monarch CCAA – Minnesota and North DakotaMs. Thorpe assessed right-of-way conditions for potential Monarch butterfly habitat by analyzing and digitizing different types of land cover using ArcGIS software.
