Asti is a passionate environmental advocate with deep roots in Alsen, Louisiana - a small town in Metro Baton Rouge - located in the 85 mile stretch notoriously known as Cancer Alley. She holds a Juris Doctorate from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law with a concentration in environmental law and is also a proud alum of Dillard University. Asti's career has focused on environmental/climate justice, coastal community resilience, green economic transition, and policy advocacy. Her expertise spans legal research, policy development, community engagement, and capacity building. Asti's driving passions in the work are cultural competence and layman environmental understanding.In her past roles, Asti served as the Network Engagement Manager of the Climate Justice portfolio at Foundation for Louisiana and Network Manager of the National Black Environmental Justice Network, a project of the Deep South Center for Environmental Justice. In both roles, she expanded grassroots organizations visibility, crafted and distributed collective movement messaging and campaigns, improved outreach between decision-makers and impacted communities, and operated community education and leadership programs.In 2023, Asti was recognized as one of Black Millennials 4 Flint's Young, Gifted, and Green: 40 Under 40 Environmental Justice Leaders and Dillard University's 40 under 40.Currently, she serves as the Director of Climate Justice at the Power Coalition for Equity and Justice. Asti is leading efforts across issue and policy areas to advance climate justice for Louisianans, with a focus on improving the lives of vulnerable communities.
