With nearly 18 years of dedicated experience in labor unions, I have passionately advocated for workers’ rights both in California and on a national scale. My journey began with the American Civil Liberties Union in Washington DC, where I contributed to the landmark Lily Ledbetter (Equal Pay) bill, fostering my initial connection with labor organizations.Following this pivotal experience, I joined SEIU International, immersing myself in campaigns across the country to champion workers’ rights. I participated in historical movements, such as the march in Madison, Wisconsin, for collective bargaining, efforts to repeal collective bargaining restrictions in Ohio, and initiatives to challenge Governor Walker and his policies in Wisconsin.In California, I have focused my efforts on enhancing the political power of healthcare workers, school employees, educators, and nurses. As a strong lobbyist for workers, I have been instrumental in advancing critical legislation that improves working conditions for nurses and other essential workers. One of my proudest achievements was leading the successful campaign to close LAUSD schools in recognition of Armenian Genocide Day, a significant milestone in the largest school district in the state and the country.Additionally, I have played a significant role in advancing the Armenian community’s causes. In 2012, I led one of the largest mobilizations of Armenian voters in history, and in 2017, I was honored as a champion of the Armenian community at the Vardivar Festival in Los Angeles. My contributions have also been recognized by the Armenian National Committee for my work in integrating Armenian history into California public education.I am committed to continuing this vital work, advocating for fair policies, and empowering workers through strategic political engagement and community mobilization.
