About Aston Karner
As a kid, I was told I ask, "why?" too often—now I get paid to do it.After looking at my profile, you may have some "whys" yourself: • "Why is a musician in UX research?"• "Why is a master's in higher education relevant?"• "Why should I trust Aston's experience⁈" Whether as a conductor conveying messages to musicians through gestures alone, a practitioner helping students through the end-to-end collegiate experience, or a researcher testing medical and consumer devices with participants, my work always focused on user experience. In higher education, I was tasked with analyzing and applying psychological and sociological research to guide my work. After six years working to understand and improve the student experience in higher education, I transitioned to UX research. That experience paid off. At Bold Insight, I am entrusted to lead teams of my peers [and international vendors] testing both consumer and medical (human factors) devices in every stage of development. Our studies range from exploratory and foundational research to tightly regulated, FDA-submitted validation reports. I have experience using mixed methods approaches to get our clients the insights they need to their research questions. If you are still asking, "why?" I invite you to connect with me. I would love to learn more about your work and promise to bring [an appropriate number of] well-thought-out "whys" myself.
