Process optimization of large scale production of single crystalline silicon solar cells. The main task involved investigating the influence of sawing and cleaning parameters on the final product and to identify a possible relation to the final strength. As the production of thinner solar cells are evolving the mechanical strength and photo-voltaic performance are increasingly important.

Thesis: ”Sintering behavior and mechanical properties of porous alumina ceramics”The purpose of this work was to identify a sintering aid which was coexistent with alumina and could increase the mechanical performance of a porous alumina ceramic. The material was to be used as a membrane for batteries and fuel cells applications.The first step in this work was to produce two different sintering aids by spray pyrolysis and to identify their properties. A stable suspension was made with a stabilizing agent. Then porous alumina ceramic membranes were fabricated containing the two sintering aids. This process was performed together with KeraNor AS, where my role was to supervise and to optimize the mixing technique. The fracture strength and microstructure of the materials were studied.
