We conducted manufacturing (welding) experiments with the current design using various path-planning strategies and the best strategy has been identified. Software solutions such as Autodesk Inventor, Mastercam, Robotmaster and Moduleworks AM integration were used in various stages of the project. Additionally, process parameters such as arc-length correction, arc mode, wire feed speed were modified so as to find the best combination. Finally, mechanical and material characterizations were conducted to identify the properties of the prototypes in critical design areas. A final documented report along with presentations were submitted to both the hosting organizations and the host university. Show less

My responsibilities were:* Make production drawings for work-orders with pre-defined designs and dimensions.* Concept design, site visit, customer-meetings, dimensional design, production drawing generation for work-orders with custom design.* Coordinate and follow-up outsourced jobs such as water-jet, plasma and laser cutting, powder-coating, sandblasting e.t.c* Creating instructions and profile drawings (burn-table nesting) for sheet-metal cutting operations.* Support inspection of the shop-floor regarding cleanliness, safety, work progress, machine maintenance and material availability.* Support inspection of final products regarding finish, coating quality, weld quality, suitability for operations and related aspects.* Coordinate external factory inspections (by govt. officials) such as electrical and plumbing, fire and safety, ISO.* Identify and initiate purchase of raw-materials and machinery for stock and also for maintaining proper order of the production facility. * Support departments such as sales, purchase, human-resources, marketing and finance. * Communicate project statuses with upper management officials.* Support external contractual jobs (jobs conducted onsite such as installations and maintenance).* Maintain engineering records; both digital and hard-copy files.Software solutions used: AutoCAD, Solidworks, MS OfficeWelding operations used: TIG (Tungsten inert gas) welding, MIG (Metal inert gas) welding, stick welding, MAG welding.Materials worked on: Stainless steel, Mild steel, Aluminium alloys.
