Study/develop / modify application methods using Lanxess range of chemicals and suggest &support the marketing team with leathers & formulations to meet their customer specifications and requirements. Coordinating with and supporting marketing teams by conducting annual leather workshops to show demonstrate & discuss the application of new products with relevance to the Indian market. Controlling and monitoring the numerous technical aspects required in Leather productionGuiding and directing a team of technicians and thereby ensuring quality and consistency in production, adhering to delivery schedules , new product development as per customer specifications & requirements, ensuring optimum utilisation of man & machinery by proper production planning and control. The main production was shoe upper leathers from Goat - mainly domestic origin and Hides - both domestic and imported origin-mostly as raw hides from France , Germany, Holland, Italy, UK & the USA . Leathers made were Glazed ,Polished and Resin finished, fine full grain natural and printed &milled, snuffed impregnated and finished Box calf, nubucks from 0.9 mm to 2.2 / 2.4 mm in thickness. The job involved coordinating directly with the three shoe departments and also with buyers and reporting directly to the Managing Director. The Leathers were exported to UK, Germany, China and Far East. To name a few important buyers - Clarks, Gabor, Geox, Mark&Spencers, Nautica, Salmander. It was mandatory that every lot leaving the tannery must be accompanied with a test report, the testing being done at the SATRA approved lab within the FLC premises. It was a great opportunity and a tremendous challenge working with the dynamic Mr. Yavar Dhalla the MD of the company.
