Worked as the Project Engineer for the two new steam boiler and CHP (Combined Heat and Power) facilities as part of an energy consumption and GHG emission savings initiative at StuyTown and Peter Cooper Village. First of the two facilities is a new ground up steel structure currently at 75% completion. Second will be installed within an existing underground parking lot, and consist of (x8) 600 HP low pressure steam boilers along with (x2) 2000kW natural gas CHP's. We are planning to excavate a portion of the floor by 8-12 feet to create a larger and separated boiler room. The project will require an extensive distribution system through pre-insulated piping. Work will involve civil (trenching, excavating, geotechnical work), structural (steel erection, steel construction, reinforced concrete), architectural (building enclosure, roofing, green roofing, project design), MEP (piping distribution, steam tie-ins, chimney erection), environmental (soil remediation, DEP & DEC permitting and notices) coordination.
