Responsible for National’s risk management activities and its insured portfolio management function.

Led risk management for a startup monoline insurer focused on enhancing municipal and global infrastructure debt transactions. Risk management responsibilities included credit risk underwriting, portfolio risk assessment, asset management, regulatory and economic capital and enterprise risk management.

Credit risk management.

Primary responsibility for assessing credit risk in single risk opportunities including global infrastructure, project and PFI/PPP financings, power and utilities, domestic public finance and future flow transactions. Responsible for monitoring risk criteria and procedures for established asset classes and developing criteria for new asset classes. Worked closely with Finance, Legal and Surveillance areas to enhance the company’s risk management and governance framework, respond to rating agency and regulatory inquiries and projects involving internal and external audit compliance.

Held positions of increasing responsibility in MBIA’s insured portfolio management, new business, finance and corporate strategy areas. In last position at MBIA, was responsible for assisting in the evaluation of the company’s risk management policies, identifying new business opportunities and expansion of the firm in global markets.
