• Led extensive testing of Advanced Electronic Flight Strips (AEFS), identifying numerous new software bugs. Worked closely with other controllers, managers and external stakeholders to develop fixes and improve the.
• Cadre instructor for STARS radar transition with extensive knowledge of local adaptation and configuration. Subject matter expert assisting Raytheon in creating tower-specific training materials.
• Archie League Medal of Safety Recipient (March 2014), along with other controllers working during the crash of Asiana Flight 214.

• Controller at Chicago Executive Tower (previously named Palwaukee Tower), a Level 6 tower in Chicago's north suburbs with extensive business jet and flight training activity.
• Created quick-reference materials for controllers on new quality assurance and safety reporting requirements.
• Wrote a revised runway crossing waiver to update facility-specific standard operating procedures, reflecting a newly constructed taxiway.
• Created and gave presentations to groups of local pilots on operating at the airport and provided tours of the control tower to interested pilots.
• Applied arrival-departure IFR separation using a complex set of procedures to keep aircraft far enough apart from each other and from nearby Chicago O'hare's arrivals.

• I developed a new beat on higher education issues and was the sole reporter in the city of Chicago regularly covering the city's community colleges.
• I was the first to report on stories uncovering misuse of WYCC, the City Colleges of Chicago's PBS station, for political projects, including making partisan political spots, in clear violation of its charter.
• Reported regularly on Wayne Watson, the chancellor of the City Colleges, who retired and began collecting a full-salary pension while working as the new president of Chicago State University.

Responsible for daily beat coverage and enterprise reporting on Bend's city government. Communicated constantly with editors and a deep bench of sources to develop stories. City officials themselves came to rely on my reporting on Bend's process to expand its city limits in which I distilled highly technical reports and data into easily understood.
