I work as one of the 16,000 volunteers at Hema-Quebec on a seasonal basis. I provide assistance and guidance to the staff of Hema-Quebec in setting up and closing the blood drive at Concordia University in the atrium of the John Molson Building. In this experience, I achieved the ability to work as a team member with new people and it helped me build my social network.

In my undergraduate studies at Concordia University, I took various civil engineering core courses and worked on many projects. In my first year, I did a research project on ground water and surface water for the region of Coteau-du-Lac. Some of my achievements from this project includes understanding the composition of minerals, rocks and soil types, load formation, techniques of air-photo interpretations, and geological mapping. My part of the project dealt with geological site investigation, preparation and interpretation of engineering geology reports. In my second year, I was introduced to engineering management principles and economics. I mastered key concepts, such as principles of project management, role and activity of a manager, enterprise organizational charts, cost estimating, planning and control, company finances, interest and time value of money, discounted cash flow, evaluation of projects in private and public sectors, depreciation methods, business tax regulations, decision tree and sensitivity analysis, project delivery methods, construction contracts, bidding, planning and sched­uling, cash flow analysis, and project tracking. One of my biggest achievement that year was becoming proficient in Microsoft Project and Primavera Earned Value Management.In my third year, I completed a course in transportation engineering. I learned many key elements in transportation engineering, such as transportation's role in society, planning and design of road, rail, air, and water-way system components: terminals, right-of-way, control systems, evaluation of alternative modes and decision-making process. My achievement that year was learning how to operate a total station (theodolite) for a surveying project.In my final year, I took some specializing courses, such as Soil Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering, Project Management for Construction, Highway and Pavement Engineering.
