I'm a philosopher, educator, and interdisciplinary socio-cultural researcher. I specialize in understanding socio-cultural change, especially in the area of sex and gender. At the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis, I received my PhD for my research on the analogy of Genders as Genres. Since then, I have worked at the University of Amsterdam, Harvard University, and RU Nijmegen.My most recent work focuses on pluralist and dynamic concepts and practices in life science and biomedical research on sex-gender. I analyze changes of sex-gender concepts in these areas and work to contribute to improvements of the methods and tools that these researchers have available to them.Dr. Alex Thinius is filosoof, interdisciplinair socio-cultuureel onderzoeker en docent. Alex werkt aan de theorie van sociaal-culturele verandering, vooral op het gebied van sekse en gender. Aan de Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis promoveerde Alex op het proefschrift getiteld Genders as Genres. Sindsdien heeft Alex gewerkt aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam, Harvard University, en RU NIjmegen.
