I worked in CSR Cell under Personnel and Administration Department of the Company.The CSR cell manages the CSR activities of the company from project selection, project management, impact assessment and reporting.My role was to associate with each of these activities. The process included site visits, reports to the committees at the management level and to the Board Level, prepare agenda, attend meetings and prepare minutes of meeting thereafter.At my level, Project management included scrutinizing the reports submitted by the agencies undertaking the work, accompany my superiors to various project sites as and when asked to and assist my senior team to process for payments to the agencies.I was fortunate to go through a few impact assessment reports prepared by reputed institutions who were engaged by the company. Lastly, I was involved in preparation of reports to the Annual Report, CSR reports, and Official website regarding the CSR activities of the company. I also engaged in proof reading and other supporting work related to Coshya, the in-house magazine of the Company.Due to covid corona, the training which was supposed to be completed in one year, was extended. Though it is only an apprenticeship programme, I have become confident to take up any work in a modern office environment and reasonably knowledgeable over the term ‘CSR’ with this exposure in Cochin Shipyard for the past more than one year.
