As a Kaart employee working for Meta I am contributing to the Overture Maps Foundation to produce an open and accurate map of the earth. My work includes the development, from the ground up, of a Airflow pipeline that leverages Athena, AWS Glue, and Sedona to conflate multiple building datasets together to create a planet wide building map that is regularly updated to produce a fresh and accurate map of the planet.

At IBM I was an architect of the network stack for a next generation cloud infrastructure that used a toroid mesh model to connect servers in the cloud instead of the usual top of rack switched infrastructure. I also lead a team that used Kubernetes to provide our cloud infrastructure with a service infrastructure for the core services to run in. This involved a deep understanding of Kubernetes and new Kubernetes services integration with the core Kubernetes services.

The Verizon Compute Cloud is a different way of looking at the cloud. At its core it is a system based on the ability to reserve bandwidth for CPU, storage, and network traffic so that a user never experiences a reduction of performance due to other users' demands on the system. This system was designed around very specific hardware that gave us the ability to shape network and storage traffic in such a way that we could have complete control over each user's flows. The Storage Stack of this system uses Linux servers to present AoE devices in the fabric so that VMs running on Xen hypervisors can discover the devices and use them as directly attached disks. The hardware uses an all SSD installment so latency and bandwidth are stellar! The storage stack also uses zfs to present the user volumes and also to provide snapshot capability.My roles in the organization are as a storage architect, developer, team lead, scrum master, and debugger.

Lead Linux device driver developer. Responsible for development of new features and support for new Emulex hardware, maintenance of driver for lagecy products, and debugging issues seen in the storage stack and SAN having to do with FC and FCoE products. Also responsible for keeping up to date with Linux kernel changes and publishing Emulex open source driver code to the Linux community.

Lead Software Engineer for the Snapshot project for the StorageTek 6920/40.

Led the software team at Trebia in developing drivers for a custom Fibre Channel to FCoE/iSCSI conversion chip. Achieved high-performance drivers to showcase hardware throughput capabilities. Collaborated with McData engineers to integrate the chip into a prototype switch.

Led the development and maintenance of the Emulex Host Bus Adapter driver for Tru64 UNIX. Key accomplishments include:- Ensured compatibility with the new SLI-2 interface through driver upgrades and optimizations.- Enhanced driver performance by implementing dynamic interrupt moderation, significantly reducing context switching overhead.- Streamlined driver access for Tru64 administrators by establishing and managing a dedicated web-based distribution platform.

Developed and maintained sections of the SCSI and Fibre Channel target firmware for the HSZ-70, HSZ-80, and HSG-80 RAID Controllers. These controllers were fully redundant RAID controllers with redundant SCSI back-end buses and four front-end SCSI (HSZ) or Fibre Channel (HSG) ports. My responsibilities when working on these controllers was to support the front-end interface and transport layers in the firmware. This meant dealing with integration issues with other initiator vendors, debugging and developing transport features like SCSI-3 persistent reservations, and integrating and debugging current firmware with new versions of the hardware.
