Head, ProductionMicavaani-Mica'S Community Radio Station Apr 2011 - Mar 2012InIn my second year at b-school, I was responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the community radio station and that the studio is in perfect shape production-wise. We followed up on our new initiatives introduced the previous year, by scaling them upwards. The rural singing competition was renamed 'Aapno Idol' (Translation: Our Idol) to include participants from other villages in the vicinity. -

Junior Station HeadMicavaani-Mica'S Community Radio Station Oct 2010 - Mar 2011InAs the Junior Station Head, I was responsible for coordinating the activities of the production and programming teams and ensure that the station was operating properly. To expand the horizons of the station as such, me and my team mates added two groundbreaking activities to MICAVAANI's repertoire. The station was used to provide live coverage for student fests of the college (3 in all), which included interviews, music, dedications, live updates, etc. All of this helped us establish a deep connection with our own student community. This effort was followed up by one to connect with the intended rural audience. That we achieved by organising a singing competition titled 'Shela no idol' (Translation: Shela's Idol; Shela - name of the biggest village nearby; format similar to American Idol) for the inhabitants of the 4 villages nearby. We ensured integration of the community by having live call-ins on our show where people aired messages to the contestants who also sang live on-air. This took our interaction with the community upto unheard-of levels. -
