I am a multi-disciplinary activist social scientist (economist) who believes in inclusive development and finance. As a former Governor of the central bank of Bangladesh, I have been pursuing financial inclusion and sustainable development which touches the bottom of the pyramid. As a Professor of development studies in Dhaka University, I have been trying to combine analytical tools with practical knowledge while teaching and advocating gender sensitive pro-people and pro-planet development. My early work on participatory budgets and people’s reports on environment provided me the foundational strength to push sustainable finance both locally and globally. Incidentally ,I was a member of the advisory committee on UNEP’s ‘Inquiry: Designing Sustainable Finance’.
