On October 1, 2013, I made a career change. I am now devoting my working days to producing Atomic Insights, the Atomic Show and related written works.Atomic Insights has been on the web continuously since 1995. It started as a paper newsletter in 1994. Topics covered have included atomic technology, atomic history, personalities in the atomic industry, and prospects for a Second Atomic Age. Atomic Insights transitioned to a new look and a new home in April 2011 during the height of interest in nuclear energy topics following the Fukushima accident. A new theme at Atomic Insights is the effort to spread Calm, Certainty and Reassurance about nuclear energy in the face of a concerted FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt) campaign by those who fear the prospects of fair competition with atomic fission in the battle for market share in the global energy business.

AAE Inc officially ceased existence at the end of 2010. The web site continues to be maintained to provide historical information and access to the technical details of the inventions for anyone who is interested.Adams Atomic Engines, Inc. developed a conceptual design for an atomic power system that could have been economically competitive in markets currently served by large diesel engines and combustion gas turbines. An Adams Engine(TM) is a fourth generation high temperature gas cooled reactor with a direct Brayton Cycle gas turbine heat conversion system. Key features of the system are moderate pressures and machinery that was initially developed for combustion turbines.

Provided financial analysis of requirements for maintaining ships and submarines at regional maintenance centers. Supported submarine maintenance analysis for shipyard availability periods. Participated in new system acquisition process as a maintenance specialist to provide information for total cost of ownership analysis.

Effective date of retirement - September 1, 2010. Held a variety of positions. 12 years as a submarine officer specializing in engineering and communications including 3 years as Chief Engineer Officer on USS Von Steuben. 6 years in the Naval Reserve including two years with the Navy Central Command. 2 tours at USNA, one as a company officer, one as an instructor. 9 years as a staff officer in Washington - 3 years in a technology advocacy position with SECNAV and 4 years as an education and training requirements officer with OPNAV N12. Two years and five months as submarine and ship readiness programs analyst with OPNAV N43.

Analysis of submarine technical training requirements and budget submission for POM/PR process.

In charge of the SECNAV Information Portal knowledge management project. Trained users and encouraged their use of the system to improve work flow and information access.

Taught the Principles of Naval Weapons Systems. Taught Ethics for Junior Officers. Participated in the Command Seamanship Training Squadron as an Officer in Charge of 44 foot sloops.
