The striking thing was that it looked as though I had done some of the portraits - which was unlikely as I’m not especially adept at getting big commissions like that.In 2005 I produced two paintings for an exhibition at this gallery and found the style I had been searching for. The paintings of Maude Gonne and Patrick Kavanagh had, to me, the right mix of mad staring eyes, complete unbelievability and very bright colours. Two years later I completed the Marie Rua painting for the exhibition Not What You'd Expect.I've carried on in this vein with mylatest IPG paintings - portraits of Julie Christie, EP Thompson, Jean Ritchie, Jack Kerouac and Emmylou Harris, along with a scary self portrait. "A superb, deadpan introduction by Stewart Lee spuriously places the book into a serious literary tradition, comparing Bradford's half-finished anecdotes and margin doodles to the work of Czech surrealists, Arthur Machen and even Raphael, when we all know the author is just a beardy bloke in a shed with some snails...
" - Londonist"A really special, beautiful little book. Tim Bradford is a wonderful writer and a great illustrator." - John Rogers, auth. This Other London"
"A beguiling book showing without doubt that seemingly mundane details really are the stuff of life.
" - museumofthinobjects.com"It's amusing, heart-warming and thought-provoking" - Jane’s London
Small Town England (Ebury, 2010)— an East Midlands 80s memoir of crap punk bands, right wing politics and the crazy provincial disco scene.“A warm, kaleidoscopic romp of a reminiscence”
 - Stuart Maconie

 Great fun “

The Groundwater Diaries (Flamingo, 2003)—a project that involved walking the routes of lost London rivers while high on Special brew and discussing dreams, politics, global warming and Danish punk music. “Bizarre but quite brilliant...Complete with cartoons, maps and other weird gems.’ - The Bookseller
