- Meet regularly with the department, ensuring the agenda and minutes are kept- Liaise on behalf of the department with Administration, other departments, theIB/AD Coordinator, Counselor, and parents- Coordinate the annual purchasing of texts and teaching materials for theDepartment in cooperation with Administration and IB/AD Coordinator- Ensure the maintenance of existing texts and teaching materials- Provide professional learning and collaboration opportunities for the department- Participate in the hiring process of new department members- Provide feedback on the annual performance reviews for department members- Lead curriculum development and review in the department, including but not limitedto the application of:i. Relevant curricular and accreditation standardsii. IB Standards and the IB Learner Profileiii. Concept-Based Learningiv. School-Wide Instructional Strategies- Collaborate with department members to articulate curriculum pacing and priorities- Regularly review progress of department members in covering planned curriculum,collaborating to adjust as needed, consistent with department priorities.- Ensure instruction provided by department members utilizes schoolwideinstructional strategies- Conduct peer-observations to assist with the implementation of curriculum pacingas well as effective instructional methods.- Conduct co-observations with Administration to align instructional expectations- Recommend placement of students in courses when needed- Ensure all department members understand and follow Portal Policies for gradingwork and publishing grades on a regular and consistent basis.- Ensure that our Essential Agreements on Assessment are implemented by thedepartment.- Conduct regular moderation of assessment activities with all department members- Lead department analysis of assessment data (e.g. IB, MAP, PSAT), in collaborationwith the IB/AD Coordinator, Counselor and Administration, to drive instruction
