I aim to be part of the much-needed technological revolution in construction to minimise its impact on the climate and reduce the serious shortage for communities. Housing is a basic human need. But a lack of affordable housing to buy or rent is fuelling a global housing crisis and the World Bank says that by 2025, 1.6 billion people are expected to be affected by the global housing shortage. In 200 cities globally, 90% were unaffordable, with the average home costing more than three times the average income.My passion for engineering and my wish to take a Master’s degree in Construction or Sustainability Engineering is very much linked with that desire but was also fed by my fascination with and study of engineering achievements, including Gaudi's Sagrada Família and Gustave Eiffel's Eiffel Tower. I also am a keen student of architecture and associated design.I am a hybrid person, needing to appreciate the demands of the future, the successes of the past and how they can be linked by improving what we are doing right now. Sound, long-term and innovative engineering will make our world safer, more productive and more cohesive in the decades ahead.Technically astute, fluent in Hungarian, English, and Mongolian, and having travelled and worked widely, I have made decisions across all areas of my career which are based on evidence, lead to success and are viewed very much as positive by those involved with me.My work history involves positions including driver, maintenance man, porter and administrator. These are not in any way connected to engineering but more than evidence my adaptability and capacity to settle quickly into any environment and work alongside any person or team. This includes my time as an interpreter in Mongolia, supporting over 30 employees in highly technical and operationally challenging areas.Engineers have already seen their work structured by new technologies which can capture and improve an ever-changing built environment. I am enthusiastic about being at the centre of this, but with imagination, fun, creativity and humanity. I want to be an engineer involved in the design process to deliver high-quality, economic and sustainable infrastructure – to be part of the way forward in a rapidly changing sector.
