For 18 years now, I help students understand the basic principles of arithmetic and algebra, guiding them through more complex concepts in applied mathematics, such as business calculus, statistics, trigonometry, advanced calculus, and geometry. At my job, I've held different responsibilities, like, temporarily supervising the math department, the team of tutors on schedule, and the nearly 70 students per hour that circulates in and out of the math lab asking for help with all levels of Mathematics. Additional work includes, reviewing course materials, establishing course objectives, learning outcomes, and syllabi. Working with faculty, tutors, and students on teaching policies and resources. Developing course syllabus and outlines to conform to standards and department expectations. Reviewing textbook or other course material changes, Revising and updating course contents. Facilitating class instruction, review sessions, presentations and other class activities. Maintaining records of enrollment, attendance, and grades. Maintaining and facilitating material required for online instruction. Keeping track of student progress and curriculum development. Evaluating student performance using a variety of measurement tools including, but not limited to examinations, and personal in lab assessments using objective and subjective questioning. Maintaining an availability schedule through in lab visits, scheduled appointments, phone, e-mail, and providing students feedback. As an advisor, I help new and continuing students define their educational goals, and I build courses, and programs of studies accordingly. I Provide information about admission, registration, special programs of study, graduation and transfer requirements. In addition, I also work with students at high risk, and handle the Standard of Academic Progress rules and procedures.
