Hearing Officer
CurrentPresides, by appointment of the local Superintendent, over local level Due Process hearings to ensure compliance with state and local regulations. Administers district-level consequences to students for violation(s) of the Code of Student Conduct, when necessary. Trains and advises school administrators on the Code of Student Conduct, local school laws, and other relevant statutory rules and regulations. Determines appropriate placement for students returning to school from incarceration or detention, who have been convicted of or adjudicated with a designated felony, or who have been expelled or suspended from another school district. Actively participates in and serves as the district-level representative in "Journey", a mental health treatment/diversion program for young girls in the DeKalb County Juvenile Court.
