Evelyn Suarez is a thought leader in the international trade community. She provides high level legal and consulting advisory services to companies engaged in international business, particularly related to trade policy, customs and anti-corruption. She assists clients with a wide array of matters from those arising at the border in dealing with Customs (CBP) to interpreting current U.S. trade policy. On the trade policy front, she helps clients understand and with advocacy with regard to matters relating to the renegotiation of NAFTA (now called USMCA) and negotiations with China and future trade agreements (e.g., Japan, EU).. Clients have ranged from major ports and Fortune 500 corporations to smaller businesses. She helps clients develop strategies to cope with protectionist tariffs (most notably 232 steel and aluminum and tariffs on Chinese imports). Ms. Suarez represents clients before all trade agencies and in litigation before the U.S. Court of International Trade, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court and on legislative matters. She also has had experience leading high-profile investigations, including the U.N. Volcker Committee and various Congressional investigations into the U.N. Oil-for-Food Programme. Today, Ms. Suarez She is a frequent speaker on current trade policies addressing how to cope with the impact of tariffs and quotas on international supply chains. She is a leading advocate for women in international business, serving as past President of the Association of Women in International Trade (WIIT). She also serves on the Virginia Maritime Association Board as well as other Advisory Boards to various academic institutions.
