Nate's practice focuses on insurance coverage/bad faith advice and litigation, commercial litigation, UM/UIM advice and litigation, professional liability litigation, and general liability litigation. Recent Cases:Nate tried a two-week, breach of contract and insurance bad faith case arising from a homeowner’s claim that Plaintiffs made after wind and rain storms to a jury in Arizona and won a unanimous defense verdict for a national insurer. Other than an early offer of judgment served with the complaint, until two weeks before trial, Plaintiffs did not demand less than $800,000. Then, over the two weeks before trial, Plaintiffs’ demand dropped to $127,000. During closing arguments, Plaintiffs asked the jury to award $441,000 to $807,000 for the remediation and repair of the property, as well as emotional distress. The jury returned a unanimous defense verdict after only 90 minutes of deliberation.Mr. Meyer recently argued a bad faith case at the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. After persuading the Arizona District Court that Arizona's survival statute applies to breach of contract and bad faith claims against his insurer client, and obtaining summary judgment on both claims, Nate recently defended hi insurer client from Plaintiff's appeal and argued the case to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Nate recently obtained a fantastic result in a bad faith and punitive damages case arising from a UIM claim. He persuaded Plaintiff to submit the value of the UIM to a binding arbitration in consideration for Plaintiff agreeing to dismiss all claims (including the bad faith and punitive damages claim) after the binding arbitration--regardless of the arbitration award. During arbitration, Plaintiff requested an award of $600,000, but the Arbitration resulted in Nate's client paying only $64,000 of UIM benefits--only $34,000 more than offered by Claims.Mr. Meyer recently persuaded a Plaintiff to file a Voluntary Dismissal, with Prejudice, only 90 days into a bad faith case arising from a theft claim made under a Renter's Policy. Nate recently resolved a bad faith case arising from a homeowners claim at mediation for $500,000 less than Plaintiff's original demand and a fraction of anticipated defense costs.Mr. Meyer recently secured the dismissal, with prejudice, of a bad faith claim arising from a homeowners claim after filing a Motion for Summary Judgment.Nate recently defended an insurance bad faith claim against an insurer in which plaintiff entered a Damron Agreement with the insured and demanded $1 million.
