I assist clients with preserving their wealth and options through estate planning and inheritance litigation. This planning often involves preparing documents to minimize the costs, in terms of time, expense and taxes, of transfers of assets through gift or inheritance, as well as restructuring asset ownership to protect such assets from the high cost of long term care, including nursing home expenses. Key to this planning is utilizing asset protection techniques, such as trusts, to minimize the risk of family assets being secured by a creditor, including a divorcing spouse, or unnecessarily expended on taxes or long term care expenses. My experience with such planning includes serving as a Board Member and Chair of the Elder Law Section of the Wisconsin State Bar Association.The inheritance litigation with which I assist clients includes will contests, trust disputes, and claims for breach of fiduciary duty, financial exploitation and intentional interference with inheritance. My background in this area includes being a member of the Wisconsin Attorney General's Taskforce on Elder Abuse, through which we study options for reducing incidents of elder abuse as well as remedying the costs of such abuse.I have a multi-state legal practice which includes admissions to the State Bars of Wisconsin, Illinois and Florida. As a Florida licensed attorney located in Wisconsin, I have extensive experience with "snow bird planning" for those lucky folks who spend substantial time in both states.
