Attorney Marshall is a dedicated public interest attorney and board member who has devoted her entire legal career to advocating for social and economic justice for historically marginalized people and their communities. In her current role as an Assistant Bar Counsel with the Massachusetts Office of Bar Counsel (OBC), her primary responsibilities include investigating and prosecuting allegations of professional misconduct before hearing committees, the Board of Bar Overseers, and the Supreme Judicial Court. In addition, she provides ethical guidance to lawyers and conducts outreach initiatives to educate the bar on legal ethics. Before joining OBC, Attorney Marshall was an Assistant City Solicitor for the City of Holyoke, Massachusetts. In that role, she specialized in real estate development, employment law, litigation, and issuing formal legal opinions to elected officials and department supervisors. She has also been actively engaged in criminal justice reform as a former public defender and an advocate for dismantling the school-to-prison pipeline.In addition to her legal work, Attorney Marshall has made significant contributions to her alma mater, Western New England University School of Law, as an adjunct law professor, president of the Law Alumni Board, and Center for Social Justice board member. Her dedication to nurturing the next generation of legal professionals and promoting professionalism in the legal community is evident in her mentorship of law students and her commitment to the National Organization of Bar Counsel's Future of Lawyer Regulation Committee. Additionally, she is a proud alumna of the illustrious North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and an active Massachusetts Black Women Attorneys member.Attorney Marshall's passion for service and mental health advocacy is a driving force in her life. In addition to her role as Chair of the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association's Well-Being Task Force, she is a frequent speaker and writer on lawyer well-being. She sits on the Massachusetts Bar Association's Wellness Committee and the Almadan Inc. Human Rights Committee. She also actively serves as a board member and volunteer at several non-profit organizations specializing in mental health services, community education, and financial equity. Currently, she serves as a board member of Franklin County Community Development Corporation, Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association, African American Female Professors Association, and Western Massachusetts Training Consortium.
