Helping farmers to earn sustainably

As a Secretary General of MMGLD, I am initiating development action in the North Eastern region of India on social projects of public relevance, as well as implementing projects on media capacity development in the country covering various development domains.

- Facilitation of partnerships and collaborations- Outreach, advocacy, public information and communications- International Cooperation- Business Responsibility- Corporate Data Management

- Served as the Executive Head of the UN - Government of India Joint Programme on Convergence, representing the Planning Commission of India; UN partners such as UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA, FAO, ILO and the Office of the Resident Coordinator, UN and other partners of the Programme - the 7 state governments. - Programme coordination between UN team deployed at the district, state and national level and the seven UNDAF (United Nations Development Assistance Framework) provincial Governments of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Bihar and Odisha. - Strategic partnerships with key stakeholders at national and state levels, including UN agencies, Government of India ministries and key resource institutions- Extensive communications, documentation and advocacy initiatives- Effective media capacity building programmes involving print and electronic media journalists in seven UNDAF states.

- Turn key projects on media and advocacy- Communication strategies for Government of India Ministries / Departments and public sector enterprises on public information and outreach- Documentations (print and electronic); field and outdoor publicity; media training workshops; the social media.

- Headed NDMA’s national media initiative and framed communication strategies for National, State and District stakeholders. Led NDMA’s public awareness initiatives on disaster preparedness, mitigation and response countrywide.- Conceptualized and prepared the media plans, finalized and released the national advocacy campaigns on television, radio, print, community radio and other forms of mass media.- Handled the annual budgetary allocation for media activities and financial support to State Disaster Management Authorities (SDMAs) nationwide.- Monitored media activities of SDMAs and managed the national / international collaboration for media projects with Government of India Ministries and UN organizations and handled grants.- Commissioned media products on disaster awareness and management and coordinated with national media agencies such as Doordarshan (National TV Network), Directorate of Audio Visual Publicity and Press Information Bureau.- Coordinated the National Press & facilitated journalists’ visits to the field areas of the country.- Ensured national as well as regional brand image building.

- Operational Head of this non profit organization and managed administration, fund raising and budget management, recruitment and programme management.Following implemented projects :- Partner, EU Project – EU-India Media Initiative on HIV/AIDS (2005 -2006), in collaboration with Thomson Foundation, UK; University of Tampere, Finland; INP+, India; and Commonwealth Broadcasting Association, UK, to train Indian radio, television and print national journalists. - Partner, Awareness Project - Empowering Communities on Prevention of Drugs and HIV in India, UNODC (2007).Project involved selected schools in the north eastern region of India.- Director, Field Research Project on Youth in the north eastern region for Indian Council of Social Science Research, covering eight states of the region including Sikkim.- Partner, EU sponsored Project – EU-India Documentary Initiative (2003-2004), in collaboration with Thomson Foundation, UK; Indian Institute of Mass Communication, India; University of Tampere, Finland and Commonwealth Broadcasting Association, UK.- Chief Implementer, six NGO State training workshops (2002-2004) in Assam, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland for Department of Women and Child Development, Ministry of Human Resource Development. - Director, Field Study on Public Utility of Private Schools (2002), commissioned by Department of Secondary and Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development involving private 100 schools.

- Served as the Head of Unit, leading and managing communications and media activities for the National Literacy Mission. - Conceived, coordinated and implemented national campaigns covering 526 districts in the country- Coordinator, International Cooperation on print and electronic media for development.- Head of Exhibitions Division, responsible for concept development and execution of major exhibitions in liaison with leading creative agencies for putting up national and international exhibitions - Coordinated the National Press for the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India- In 1996, assumed additional administrative charge of a newly created North East Cell in the Ministry of Human Resource Development for coordination and implementation of plans and programs pertaining to the four Departments of the Ministry – Department of Education, Department of Culture, Department of Youth Affairs and Sports and Department of Women and child Development in the eight north-eastern states of India, including Sikkim.- Functioned as the Government of India Nominee (Ministry of Human Resource Development) for coordinating programmes of all State Resource Centres and Shramik Vidyapeeths (Vocational Education Centres) in the eight north-eastern states of India.- As nominated by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, served as a Member of the Special Task Force on Media for both print and electronic media.

- Editing of all academic publications including journals, bulletins and manuscripts- Plan and supervision of print production, both in-house and through outside agencies.- Co-publishing ventures with private publishers involving reputed authors. - Compilation/coordination of academic conference proceedings and distribution among national and international academic community.
