Digital Signal Processing EngineerDarmstadt University Of Applied Sciences - Hochschule Darmstadt Apr 2016 - Aug 2016Darmstadt Area, GermanyThe main task was to create a live demo for high schoolers to promote the telecommunication department of Darmstadt UAS. Implemented a voice pitch analyser that measures and returns the pitch & range of a speaker using a Raspberry Pi for easy transportation. The limited computation power demanded proper code optimization. Implementation in C. On a partially unrelated note, I broke my arm at the beginning of the project and was forced to write more than half of it one-armed. Learned that humans are surprisingly adaptable. Also on limited CPUs you either deal with long-lasting execution times or learn a lot about optimization and luckily I chose to do the latter. -
Junior ResearcherNgee Ann Polytechnic Aug 2015 - Feb 2016SingaporeImplemented a Recursive least squares filter on a real-time digital signal processor which adaptively reduces noise in audio signals. Due to limited processing power and time constraint from real-time feature, filter was implemented with fixed-point arithmetic. This introduced issues with quantization errors which made system unstable. Solved by adaptively changing fixed-point representation and decompose covariance matrix for numerical stability. On-board implementation in C, filter simulation in MATLAB. Learned the hard truth that not every project is well-documented and put substantial effort in changing the project into a well-documented one. -

Learned how to properly document projects and write step by step guides.As a TA: Held various weekly seminars for courses in simulation of technical systems using MATLAB, microprocessor technology, measurement technology, signal processing, design of digital systems. Never thought more about the phrase "If you can't explain it in simple terms, you don't understand it" than during that time.
