Developed evidence-based intervention to serve at-risk youth (ages 15-17) to provide a year-long structured mentorship to support the development and achievement of S.M.A.R.T. goals. Outcomes for the program aims for every teen participant to 1) update or develops a resume, 2) Apply for employment or volunteer experience, 3) develops SMART goal towards higher education or technical training (including financial aid and scholarships), and 4) get connected to mental health resources if requested.

Developed online website to link at-risk youth to sexual health peer navigators. Provided peer navigation and case management to link clients to clinical centers. Provided HIV testing and counseling and linkage to PrEP services. Assisted in developing IRB-approved research protocols and grant proposals.

MCHC/RISE-UP ScholarAssisted Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) research led by Dr. Arrington-Sanders at Johns Hopkins' Harriet Lane Clinic Center for Adolescent Youth and Young Adult Health in Baltimore, Maryland.Assessed STI rates in adolescent and young adult populations.Participated in clinic and attended rounds.Coded data from electronic medical records to create a database.Participated in community outreach events, such as successfully offering youth information on safe-sex and prevention at Baltimore Pride 2018.Facilitated interviews with young adult patients.Observed administration of rapid oral HIV antibody-detection test.Presented a poster of my findings at Johns Hopkins' CARES Summer Symposium and at the 2018 CUPS Orientation at the headquarters of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia.My research poster presented at the CDC earned 1st place for the Williams-Hutchins Health Equity Award.

Worked as an academic peer advisor for the chemistry department at UC Davis in a team of three. Together, each advisor hosted weekly office hours for student advising for about 900 undergraduate students in the department. Provided prompt email service open to all students and faculty for advising and department inquiries.Created monthly newsletters informative of department events and opportunities, relevant news, and student profiles.Planned and executed quarterly outreach events that connected students with guest speakers and professionals, faculty, graduate students, and peers. Interviewed and successfully trained succeeding peer advisors.

Working alongside emergency department Research Coordinators to screen for potential clinical research ED patients. Tasks include: using the Electronic Medical Records system to determine patient's exclusion and inclusion qualifications, communicating with physicians and nurses about patient medications and status, providing patients with informed consent, and continuously learning of the research UC Davis is actively conducting.

Our lab is interested in working with aqueous clusters, specifically aqueous aluminum clusters. The Al13 polyion family is particularly interesting due to its potential applications as thin film precursors and their presence in natural waters here on Earth.

Conducting clinical research in Pathology and Lab Medicine. My research consists of looking at a Pediatric Sickle Cell Disease population that are undergoing Apheresis Therapy at UCDMC. I am researching if changing their treatment target criteria, from their adult counterpart, impacts them positively. I am working alongside a group of physician Attendings whom are experts in the field. Part of my work involves clinical rotations in the Apheresis department, attending physician meetings, and using the Electronic Medical Records database to collect metrics on my patient population.

Shadowed physicians from UC Davis Medical Center and Kaiser Permanente in hospitals, emergency and operating rooms and clinical practice settings. Explored Latino health disparities and social determinants of health. Participated in suturing, ventilation, CPR, AED, casting and simulated cases. Learned how to prepare for medical school application. Developed my path into medicine with structured mentoring and advising. Discovered health policy and its impact on Latino health.
