I am a cartographer in the Division of Realty in the Mountain-Prairie Region for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. I also lead and participate on several teams for various initiatives including cadastral data training resources, land acquisition prioritization, employee engagement and recognition, data management awareness, and America the Beautiful spatial resources.I was selected as a regional participant in the national Stepping Up to Leadership Program and graduated in April, 2024.One of my passions is mentorship, and I work collaboratively across several USFWS and Dept. of the Interior mentorship programs including the DOI Women’s Mentoring Program, the Region 6 Mentorship Program, and the national Mentoring Advisory Workgroup as a co-lead. Through years of experience involving the creation of multiple mentorship programs and working on DEIA initiatives to create a welcoming, inclusive and engaging workplace culture, I have become a key expert in mentorship for the federal workforce and beyond. I was a research scientist in Dr. Karin Kettenring's Wetland Ecology and Restoration Lab at Utah State University. I used object-based imagery analysis (OBIA) software to map wetland vegetation in two Great Salt Lake wetland complexes: the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge and The Nature Conservancy's Great Salt Lake Shorelands Preserve. This project also involved spatially modeling ecological functions performed by wetland vegetation species and using those models as inputs for a systematic… Show more I was a research scientist in Dr. Karin Kettenring's Wetland Ecology and Restoration Lab at Utah State University. Marxan generates optimized landscape management plans that minimize cost and risk while meeting set conservation targets. Conservation targets are the important ecological functions performed by wetland vegetation that provide critical ecosystem services. Ultimately, this project helped wetland managers assess synergies and tradeoffs among ecosystem functions at the landscape level, and allowed managers to target areas for on-the-ground actions. In the Landscape Architecture & Environmental Planning Department, I used ArcGIS to identify areas of conflict between three proposed development projects and current migratory bird habitat around Farmington Bay of the Great Salt Lake. I also generated recommendations for invested stakeholders to accommodate critical bird habitat in the face of projected growth for the region.

In this role, I conducted literature reviews and edited grant proposals, developed alternative future scenarios and natural resource analysis for southeastern Utah using ArcGIS and Geodesign, and then published the report for stakeholders using Adobe InDesign, Google Docs, and ArcGIS.
