I work with coalition members and partners across the US to increase the colorectal cancer screening rate to 80% in every community through operations management, communications, the ACS NCCRT annual meeting, and a variety of other educational programs and resources.

I worked with health systems, providers, and the greater Chicagoland community to prevent cancers, increase access to cancer screenings, and serve cancer patients through to survivorship.

I worked with survivor and caregiver advocates to have their voices heard in the legislative and policy process at the federal and state level. I planned and executed advocacy campaigns, wrote issue briefs and action alerts, managed, monitored and evaluated grants, as well as volunteers. I also managed our annual flagship event Call-on Congress, which brings 150 advocates to Capitol Hill to meet with their legislators in March.

I served the community interests and needs through a collective impact model, by engaging stakeholders and member organizations, strategic planning and aligning goal setting, educational workshops, running meetings, recruiting new members, and planning events.

Worked in tandem with the multiple ventures of the Louisiana Cancer Prevention and Control Programs, I secured and maintained state-level funding matches for the Comprehensive Cancer Programs for Louisiana throughout the year by informing and educating policymakers about our programs. I educated and informed the community about all other state-level or local-level cancer level policies throughout Louisiana, including, but not limited to Complete Streets, obesity prevention, comprehensive smoke-free air laws, and access to screening. I created messaging and one-page policy briefs for use in educational policy work, as well as produced multiple mandated reports to the Louisiana legislature each year. I provided technical assistance to the Statewide and Regional Healthy Communities Coalitions on multiple topics such as Complete Streets and work with Smart Growth America, grant funding and writing, messaging to policymakers, and more.

Performed large quantitative data set management (PRAMS) and analysis for annual Louisiana state reports on Women and Girls, including interpretation and insertion into report using SAS. Performed literature and policy review on paid family leave and it’s benefits for Louisiana State Representative Karen Carter Peterson , along with investigated already written policies and research to create a template brief for multiple forms of communication for the Center.

Managed the Tulane blackboard website for the course, as well as supplemental meetings and instructional seminars outside of class time, advising students on projects and exams, proctoring exams, grading of exams and projects, and resolving student issues.

I spearheaded two major projects. First was developing innovative programmer’s guide and new NOPD domestic violence report, and second was qualitative data collection and analysis from NOPD Domestic Violence Reports using NVivo, managing other interns and the research project. I also attended and collaborated at interdisciplinary and intergovernmental agency meetings and assisted with city wide launch of the Blueprint for Safety program.
