Axos Bank is a technology-driven financial services company providing a diverse and ever-growing range of innovative banking products and services for personal, business, and institutional clients nationwide. As Communications Strategist, I help boost internal engagement, build our employer brand, and manage our online reputation. I craft and deliver content that keeps Axos team members nationwide informed and drive engagement with the Axos “AxKicker” brand. Major accomplishments in this role include establishing an omni-channel process for mobilizing brand promotors and minimizing detractors through online reputation management. In addition, I updated processes and procedures for monitoring all online feedback by using Salesforce to streamline integration across business units. This allowed us to increase efficiency in tracking, escalating, and reporting feedback so we can provide data-driven recommendations to improve the customer experience.

My passion for veterans' mental health led me to Mental Health Colorado, the state's leading advocate for promoting well-being and ensuring access to mental health and addiction care. As the Director of Communications, I oversaw the department's communications strategy, including state and national media relations and public awareness campaigns. By engaging with policymakers, providers, the public, and the press, I promoted wellness to end the stigma around mental health and addiction. With a robust media strategy, I led a team that published an average of five media mentions per week in the state's largest news outlets. Under my leadership, we increased our media reach to include Spanish stations and rural and frontier news outlets. I worked closely with the organization's CEO, including speech-writing and news interview preparation. I oversaw digital strategies and production of creative content, which increased Facebook followers by 35%, quadrupled Instagram followers, and increased overall social media engagement by 250% in one year. Other duties include: wrote all communications materials including speeches, video scripts, website content, and promotional messaging (over $25,000 annually in donations from email marketing efforts); optimized digital efforts through web development and social media; worked with CEO and research and policy departments to craft newsworthy and positive messages that promoted the organization's goals; supervised communications manager and interns; designed marketing materials and oversaw communications vendors.

As the communications associate, I used data-driven strategies to improve our brand. In my role, I focused on improving public understanding of mental health and addiction and built public support for mental health. I worked with the communications director to place and track stories through traditional and digital media; worked with Coloradans with lived experience with mental health or addiction to share their stories on our website to end stigma; drafted press releases and opinion pieces. In addition, I managed and updated the website. Some key accomplishments were implementing brand standards for all communications materials and raising thousands through email marketing.
