Aurece Aubrey Bahala is currently the Senior Program Manager at the Institute for Autonomy and Governance (IAG) Manila office. Since 2018, she has been working closely with CSOs, indigenous peoples, emerging political parties, and disenfranchised groups based in the Bangsamoro, southern Philippines to help empower them in pushing for their collective agenda in governance. In 2020, her work and involvement with disadvantaged communities in the Bangsamoro was featured in the Annual Cohort of Distinguished Southeast Asian Women Leaders Program of the US-ASEAN Women’s Leadership Academy. She is a Professional Fellow of the 2017 Spring Cohort of the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Program of the US Department of State. She is also a 2022-2023 Hubert H. Humphrey Fellow at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities where she studied public policy courses. During this time, she also did international professional affiliation with Nonviolent Peaceforce and Global Rights for Women, both of which are based in Minnesota, United States.
