Founder of LES GO SCIENCENT, an initiative to challenge gender stereotypes in STEM, empower women, support them but also provide a space where they could use their scientific knowledge to innovate to solve our communities’ challenges. This will benefit our country, and show that gender should never limit ambition.Throughout my journey as a chemical engineer with several years in oil and gas industry, I witnessed the silent struggles of countless women constrained by gender-based stereotypes. Women often hear discouraging comments simply because of their gender, and many dreams fade away due to a lack of support. This is a big reason behind the gender gap in STEM fields worldwide and particularly in Cameroon, my home country.These gaps persist due to limited mentors, a scarcity of role models, and deeply ingrained stereotypes. I’ve experienced the weight of these stereotypes firsthand, and rather than letting them deter me, they pushed me to action.Our vision: a world where women unleash their potential in STEM and contribute to development.
