Once upon a time, I was a young specialist in graphic design and illustration who graduated from the British School of Art and Design in Moscow and the University of Hertfordshire. I started my professional journey as an interior and furniture designer. Gradually I took up interior painting and turned into a muralist. This is how I discovered I could work on monumental forms, even though I always considered myself a meticulous person due to some unhealthy love for details. I loved my job and constantly listened to audiobooks while drawing and creating. What a thrill it was! Probably, at that time, the first seeds of 'Audiocoloring' were planted in my head.A couple of years later, I started writing some texts and this ended up with two fairy tales “Bacteria” and “One Incredible Adventure of a Jar of Kimchi”. While illustrating the books, I returned to my old habit of listening to audiobooks. I realised that now the time I spent doing this was way different from all other times in terms of quality – hours spent on ‘audiocoloring’ became an island of calmness, flow, comfort and safety in the hectic world I found myself in. It was a 'eureka moment' for me and since then I’ve been creating colouring books that combine an audiobook with a colouring illustration, depicting characters and key scenes from the story. I think that such an activity, for many people, as it is for me, could become a 'secret place' where you can escape from the stress and excessive anxiety of the modern world and find piece and happiness.What is Audiocoloring?Audiocolouring combines listening to a book with colouring its characters and key scenes. By engaging multiple sensory systems and motor skills, a deeper connection to the work is established – the story comes to life with each new stroke of the pencil and brush movement. Audiocolouring helps reduce stress for both children and adults.
