I am not just a mom! I have come to accept that I am also a full time caregiver too. You see my 19 year old son is autistic and needs support in his day to day life. For now he goes to school but I don’t know what the future holds. I am forced to live my life one day at a time - which according to the well know monk Thich Nhat Hahn - that is the way it should be. Full disclosure but in this fast moving world I feel left out. During the pandemic I wrote a book about my journey as mom (to both a neurotypical and neurodivergent child), community leader and woman. It’s an anthology created in the hopes to inspire people to make room for the things they really want in their lives. My autistic son didn’t stop me from living out my dreams - in fact at times he was the catalyst for me to follow them. During the pandemic writing helped me cope with the ups and downs of it all.
